In this creative writing/storytelling workshop, we’ll use body-awareness, arts, contact with nature, and creative writing technique to strengthen word-crafting in all genres (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, spoken word). Topics and skills taught will include:

- Bringing passion, power and aliveness into storytelling/writing

- Using sensory impressions

- Accessing body sensations

- Harnessing emotion

- Movement and Rhythm

- Point of view

- Character and Dialogue

- Choosing your story idea

- Balancing pre-planning/structure with spontaneity

- First and second draft process

- Moving from creative block to creative flow

- Publication routes

All levels of writing experience and physical mobility, as well as all genres of word-crafting, are welcome.

10am-5pm. Handouts are included in the cost of the course. Tea and coffee will be provided. Please bring your own lunch.

Biography

Bridget Holding is a former screenwriter. She cites the highlights of her early career as including being a winner of the Sky MovieMax Short Film of The Year Award, working on the editing of The Full Monty, and kissing Keanu Reeves (unfortunately only on the cheek). She is also a UKCP registered arts-based psychotherapist. Articles about her, or by her have appeared in The Telegraph Newspaper, Writing Magazine, The Psychotherapist, and Saga Magazine. She’s a former associate lecturer for The Open University, and has been a tutor of creative writing for The University of Exeter since 2008. Based in the French Pyrenees, Bridget is the founder of Wild Words, courses to unleash the passion, power and vitality in your words.
